

| Butter: | Scrape off butter stains with a blunt knife and vacuum out dirt in area. Sponge with warm detergent suds. If greasiness persists, spot clean with a few drops of mineral spirits. |
| Candy: | Scrape up with a blunt knife. If caused by chocolate candy, rub with a clean cloth soaked with mineral spirits. Sponge with cold water. If caused by any other candy, simply clean with hot water and sponge lightly with mineral spirits. |
| Gum: | Rub with ice until gum rolls into a ball, then remove. Sponge with mineral spirits. |
| Coffee: | Vacuum first. Using lukewarm water, sponge with a clean cloth. Then sponge with detergent suds, working from outside to centre of spot. Vacuum out suds. If grease spot remains, sponge with mineral water. |
| Cream: | Vacuum first and sponge with cold water and a clean cloth. Apply detergent suds, working from the outside to centre of stain and vacuum out suds. |
| Food: | Vacuum first and sponge with lukewarm water. Then apply detergent suds working with circular motion from outside to centre of stain. If greasy spot remains, spot with a drop or two of mineral spirits and sponge dry with a clean cloth. |
| Juice: | Vacuum first and sponge with lukewarm water and clean cloth. Apply detergent suds, working from outside to centre of stain, vacuum out suds. |
| Glue: | Sponge with warm water and a clean cloth. Follow with detergent suds, vacuum out suds. If glue has dried, sponge with vinegar. |
| Grease: | Apply mineral spirits and sponge with clean cloth. If stain remains, try detergent suds, working from outside to centre of stain. Vacuum out suds. Vacuum first first and sponge with lukewarm water and clean cloth. |
| Ice Cream: | Apply detergent suds. If stain persists, make a paste of 1 tablespoon of white flour and 1 tablespoon of fresh milk. Apply to stain and allow to remain 2-3 hours. Scrape off paste with a blunt knife and sponge repeatedly with lukewarm water. When dry, spot with mineral spirits if necessary |
